Never give advanced notice

I learned the hard way last night.. never to tell Aiden anything in advance. I made the mistake of asking him to help me pick out some toys for him to take to Dan-Dan's house. "We're going to Dan-Dan's?!?!?!?!". I told him that we were going to "tomorrow after school". I don't think the whole time concept of anything further out that right now has processed in his brain yet. All night, all he could talk about was going to Dan-Dan's. He would trick me and ask if we were going and when I said yes he would grab my hand and say "come on mommy" and try to lead me to the door. I would then again have to explain that it was tomorrow after school and after mommy went to work for a while. If I told him we were going to the mountians I then had to tell him that "No, Thomas has gone back to Sodor.. he was only in the mountians to visit for a weekend". At this moment in his life Thomas the tank engine = Mountians since the last time we were in the mountians we saw Thomas. After re-explaining to him (no kidding) 30 times he finally fell asleep but the first words out of his mouth this morning were about going to Dan-Dan's. I talked him into going to school for a bit. Dropped him off and told him I would be back and we would head up the mountian. I am exhausted already!! I just hope he thinks that the trip is worth all of the excitement!
